Music Chapel
The music chapel of the Pamplona Cathedral is the oldest musical institution of Navarre.
It has headed the musical aspect of the liturgy for more than 800 years.
35 members actually form the Music Chapel of the Cathedral. All of them are secular with the exceptions of the organist, Julián Ayesa, and the chapel-master, Aurelio Sagaseta, who are canons of the Cathedral.
They perform about 50-60 concerts a year, half of them on worship and the other half in concerts.
They have performed in most of the main cathedrals and auditoriums of Spain ((San Sebastián, León, Burgos, Toledo, Santiago, Gerona, Alcalá de Henares, Granada, Mezquita de Córdoba, Sevilla…) and abroad (Rome, Brussels, Luxembourg, Strasbourg, London, New York, Paris, Japan, Venice, Bergamo, Milan, Lucerna, Torun, Warsaw...). In all of them they have performed Spanish and Navarre music as part of the programme.
